Where do the best quality hair extensions come from?

There is a big misconception that the quality of hair extensions is determined solely by where the hair originates from, but have you considered that there may be more to this?

Of course, the Origin of where the hair is sourced is very important, but this is mainly because different hair types will provide a diverse range of textures.

Using hair which is compatible to your own or your client’s hair texture will mean that it will blend really well which means that clients will find it easy to integrate into their own hair when they are styling it at home.

But did you know that Origin is often used as a selling point and sometimes people will be swayed towards whatever the latest trend seems to be?

In reality however, bad quality hair as well as good quality hair is available in every origin of hair.

Part of the reason is because sorting, preparing and colouring the hair is an art and in order to ensure that the quality is good this part must be done well and should never be rushed.

Here are the 4 stages of hair processing that will determine quality:

HAIR PREPARATION:

When the hair is sorted there will be lots of varying lengths in the bundles and this is what will determine the thickness you receive.

It’s important to understand that you really do get what you pay for when it comes to hair extensions and as we all know hair that is thick and the top and thin at the bottom will always be cheaper than hair that is thick all the way down to the bottom.

HAIR PROCESSING:

With the processing, a quick way to process hair is to acid bath to strip the hair cuticles fully so that the hair does not require careful sorting to make sure that the cuticles are all facing the same way.

Because sorting the hair takes time, by removing the cuticles means that the process is much quicker and less labour intensive so you will pay less for the hair.

However, removing the cuticles reduces the condition dramatically and so the hair quality will be diminished and of course the hair will therefore not last as long.

COLOUR PROCESSING:

Now for the colour processing side of things. We’ve all seen those You Tube videos when people try to colour their own hair and how it can absolutely ruin their hair, well it’s exactly same with hair extensions and this is why due care and attention is required.

HOW WE DO IT AT ANGELSLOCKS:

1: When Angelslocks hair is sorted into lengths to produce our ratio or thickness, because we like our hair to be double drawn this means that we have our hair sorted so that most of the shorter hairs are removed and this is what makes our hair lovely and thick all the way down.

2: During our processing we ensure that our hair remains fully cuticle intact so no there are NO acid baths for our hair. This means that the hair is protected and strong so the colour processing will take well and the hair will maintain its condition.

3: We never use traditional hair colours that would be used in the salon as all Angelslocks hair is coloured using organic hair colours which release the colour very slowly and are much kinder on the hair. This way the quality of the hair is preserved plus this helps to reduce colour fade too.

The hard fact is that any hair, regardless of origin which hasn’t been processed well can become bad quality during the sorting, processing and colour process and this really is what determines quality and price.

This means that sadly when it comes to hair extensions, there really is no such thing as a bargain and for this reason you really do get what you pay for.

Although we can’t change this, we hope our little insight will help you to make a more informed choice when finding the perfect hair extension solution.
